Patch test. Make sure your lash tech offers a patch test. If you are comfortable not having a patch test, your lash tech should ask you to sign a waiver form giving you all the risks of not having a patch test. If your eyes start to sting, feel irritated or uncomfortable, tell your lash tech right away, this could be an allergic reaction even though you have had a patch test there is still a slim chance you could react. Don’t be scared to stop the application if you feel something isn’t right! Ask for the lashes to be removed right away. Any lash tech who cares about what they do will make sure the client is 100% happy.
Lash remover breaks down the fibres in the adhesive and de-bonds the glue. Gel removers are better as they tend not to leak over into the eye but sometimes this is unavoidable and may sting slightly during removal. However, during your patch test prior to lash application your lash tech should have patch tested for the remover too. If this hasn’t been done make sure you ask.
I say 2-3 weeks, but this is based on a few factors –
The average person has anywhere from 80-150 natural lashes per eye. As a lash technician my goal is to attach an extension to every available lash (usually about 90% coverage).
I say 2-3 weeks because it’s important to know that each eye naturally sheds about 2-5 lashes per day and if we average that to 3 per day you loose the following –
1 Week – 21 Lashes
2 Weeks – 42 Lashes
3 Weeks - 63 Lashes
Then we add internal and external factors that could make it more or less, every person sheds hair differently and sometimes you will have less time between infills and sometimes more. Maybe your friend can go a longer period between infills because they naturally have more lashes.
If lashes are applied and removed correctly then NO they do not ruin the health of your natural lashes. Try not to rub, tug, pull or pick on the extensions as this could then potentially cause damage and loss of your natural lashes. If lashes are applied on a 1:1 ratio there should be no issues and they will just come out with your natural hair cycle.
I use LashBase Adhesive and also LashBase lashes. These lashes are all premium Mink lashes and have found they give the best consistent finish.
LashBase products are NOT tested on animals and conform to all EU laws and regulations.
Cleaning and looking after your lashes can prolong the time between infills, here’s a quick cleaning guide. Whilst you can buy lash shampoo, this can sometimes be costly, so as long as you can remove make-up, dead skin cells and any debris you should be good.
Pre made fans are built by a lash extension supplier, this does make the application time quicker but still give a dense look. Hand made fans can be pre made and stored by your lash tech. The application with hand made fans does take longer as the fans are being made as you go.
Both pre made and hand made fans give a great look.
Each number represents the amount of lashes in one fan. If a fan has 2 lashes it will be a 2D fan, 3 lashes 3D fan, 4 lashes 4D fan and so on.
After care is always an important part of any treatment, what you do for the next 24 - 48 hours will determine how long and how well your treatment will last. For a lash lift and tint and brow lamination the same products are used therefore the same main aftercare is given.
Lash lift and brow lamination -
Avoid excessive sweating, saunas, steam rooms, hot showers/baths for 24/48 hours
Keep brows and lashes dry for 24 hours
Wash hands before touching the eye area
Do not use any harsh cleansing products this can affect the longevity of the tint
Avoid the use of makeup for 24 hours
Groom and brush everyday.
Brows only -
Do not pluck or tweeze between appointments especially where your therapist has advised re growth
Do not apply any perfumed products to the area for 24 hours
No tanning products for 24 hours as this could alter the tint.
Do not apply Retin-A, Retinol, AHA or exfoliators to the area for 5 days post treatment.
